Maria says 'sewing was a way of life for my mother. As a young woman in Argentina, she used to make beautiful dresses. In the evenings we would sit and watch my mother sew and soon I learned how to do it. It is disheartening to think that this beautiful and treasured technique of dressmaking has almost disappeared in our busy modern day life. I adore the smocking technique and I love the idea that my little girl will grow up wearing smocked dresses as my sisters and I did. Perpetuating skills and traditions in a world where everything tends to be mass produced is at the heart of what we do'.
