So September is almost upon us and that can only mean one thing - Total Stitch & Craft Fest is back in Belfast on Sunday the 11th at the Ramada Plaza! As well as a wonderful marketplace of crafters and designers selling their handmade goods and crafty supplies there will also be a number of craft demos going on throughout the day and some great workshops and make-and-take activities to be enjoyed.
The lovely ladies at Crafty Teas will be selling their pretty handmade gifts and providing information on their craft workshops, with afternoon tea, which can be held in your own home. They will also be running make-and-take activities on the day of the fair inviting you to try your hand at decoupaging - not only is it great fun but you will have something lovely to take home with you at the end of the day.
Our resident craft workshop folks - The Craft Market (from Fivemiletown) will once again be running our fabulous drop in workshop area. Sit down at any time of the day to take part in the crafty fun, make origami paper flowers, and stock up on lovely craft supplies. We're delighted to announce that The Craft Market have been nominated for the International Craft Awards 2016 - online voting commences on 13th September so we hope that you will join us then in voting for them in the Ireland category.
Ulster Wildlife will also be running workshop demonstrations on the day, showing people different ideas for crafts which use either recycled or natural products, like pine cones, while raising awareness for local wildlife. They will also be providing information on how to use natural products such as nettles (for making nettle string) and using leaves, berries, flowers and plant roots to create natural dyes.
Visitors will have also have the opportunity to participate in a record breaking attempt to create the world's largest patchwork Christmas stocking in Northern Ireland. Sit down with the ladies from NI Big Sock and join in this community wide project by cutting hexagons, stitching pieces together, or cutting out the paper templates. You don't have to be able to sew to get involved so even if you don't have any skills with a needle and thread all help towards achieving this record breaking goal will be greatly appreciated!
Watch out for our next blog post with news on even more of the great craft demos & workshops taking place at Total Stitch & Craft Fest.
